Congratulations on the win great performance! Do you now play in the Masters? If so how would you feel if you were drawn with Tiger??
Hi Steve, thanks for the message - was so great to win in Andalucia. Yes, I do go to the Masters now and am really looking forward to it, it's such an amazing event. I have actually played with Tiger before which was a great experience so if it happened again that would great. Cheers, Louis.
Louis, I am currently an 8 Handicap, and my dream is to play golf as a professional. What advice can you give me? Secondly, I'm playing Royal JHB East Course in 1 week, I'm a fairly long hitter (Driver 275m, 7 iron 165+) How should I take on the 'beast'?
Hi Rick, Short game.....this is the best way to improve from an 8 handicap. A lot of amateurs only practice their long game and forget that the game is being won on the greens and around the greens. You should spend more time chipping and putting when you practice. The east course is a good golf course and can bite you if you try to attack it to much. My advice to you is, Try and hit as many fairways and greens as you can. That is one of the courses you want to play from the fairway. If you say you are a long hitter it gives you an advantage. You don't have to hit driver everywhere. Think your way around that course, if you in trouble, take your bogey and walk. Try and keep the doubles off the card. Good luck to you, Louis.
What is a typical routine for you on the practice ground before each round & is there any drills you are trying at the moment? Just like to say you have the best swing on tour, great to watch.
Hi Steve, I don't like to do a lot of work on the range before my round. My warm-up session is very basic. I normally start off just chipping a few on the range then a mid iron like an 8 and then 5 or 4 iron. After that normally a 3 wood and then Driver. At the moment I don't have anything big I'm working on, I just work on hitting a lot more soft shots to shorten my backswing. And then a drill I do a lot is hitting mid-irons with my feet next to each other. This helps my balance, ball striking and connection between arms and legs in my swing. Hope this helps. All the best, Louis.
I've seen you a few times hitting the ball very far on MBGC. How exactly do you generate that clubhead speed?
Hi Martino, That is a good question....A lot of people ask me that and to be honest with you, I can't really tell you how. Since I've been little my timing was pretty good and for the last 6 years I've been doing drills to help my timing in the golf swing. Drills like standing with your feet together hitting shots. This helps me to get my body and legs working together in a unit and improves my ball striking. The only thing I can tell you is that I'm a big believer of hitting a driver with everything I've got. This helps me to clear properly and swing it down the line. I hope this helps....and thanks for the question, Cheers, Louis.
