Just a quick note to say that you are a true world class player...not just in your success, or your incredible swing...but in your attitude. I love watching you play and would love to see more players haver the kind of positive influence you do on the kids, crowd, etc. Jack Roth
Congratulations and very well done on winning the Maybank Malaysian Open. It takes some doing to lose in a Play-off and do it all over again on the other side of the world after a 30 hour journey. All the best!
I just saw you win in Malaysia having narrow lost the play-off in Augusta. Many congratulations to you and your family. Now there's a golf swing!!! I've booked a lesson for next week and my instructions to the club pro are to give me your swing. PLEASE! Awesome.
Hi Louis! Well done at the Masters and congrats on coming back in spectacular fashion at the Maybank. We really enjoyed your game. Sterkte met die res van die jaar en veral by die TPC en die Open later. Groetnis Tony Maloney
No Question! Just wanted to say congrats on a very special 3 weeks! Enjoy the ride and get some well deserved rest! If you play in The Memorial and need a place to say I live on the second tee. Hope to see you here! Jon Yarbrough
Hi Louis; You handled your loss in the Masters very well. Congratulations on your Malaysian win! You deserve it
Hallo Louis! First off: congratulations on a brilliant Masters! And that shot!!! We are immensly proud of you! You will win many more Majors, I'm sure! Ons hou jou dop en geniet elke oomblik van jou spel! Groete uit SA! Lourens van Rensburg
G'day Louis, Congratulations on your play at Augusta. I am an 11 year old junior golfer from Victoria, Australia and would love to know if you will be coming to Australia in the future? We would love to watch you play one of our tournaments in Melbourne! You are my favourite player, good luck for the rest of 2012! Tom Jemison
Just a comment here. My young family and I are now official "Louis fans". The double eagle you hit was one of the greatest shots I have ever seen, and that ball belonged in a shrine. The fact we could see you lob it out to a fan just showed us how awesome you are. That is a real professional in our opinion. After seeing that jesture on National TV we were jumping up and down for you. Our family looks forward to routing for you at the US OPEN as we live near Philly. Look for our kids on the practice range! Your signiture belongs in our hall of fame! All the best to you and your family! The Leshko's
Louis, you played great at Augusta this week. I was following you the whole weekend rooting for you, and your round on Sunday was unbelievable. I was already a big fan, but now you are my #1 player! Look forward to seeing you put on jackets and hoisting trophies! -Ryan Wessel
Hey Louis, I have no question, just a comment. I watched you miss out on a Green Jacket on Easter and saw a man with class and dignity that have been brushed aside in the last few years. Golf always prided itself on being a Gentelmans game and you Sir have displayed more class in the face of defeat than anyone could possibly imagine. You did not stomp your feet and pout off the course like some others have done. You gave me hope that Young Players and Old can take a lesson from your impeccable display of Sportsmanship and class. I salute you and hope you can continue to be a Champion in your future matches. Good luck and Great Job!! You made my day.
Louis!!! I am very upset with you!! You made me spill a perfectly good Brandy & Coke when you knocked that 260 yard shot in for an Albatross on the 2nd hole at Augusta on Sunday! I jumped up, kicked the Coffee table over and sent the B&C; flying!! Spectacular shot!! Well done and you are now written into the Masters history books. Also congratulations on playing incredibly well over the four days. Even though you got ambushed by Bubba's miracle shot, you are now nicely set up now for the next Major. Can't wait!!
Louis - This isn't a question, but rather, a note of support. I greatly admired the way you played yesterday. I know you will take the positive qualities from the experience. You are a class act and your friendly and comfortable demeanor on and off the course gives my kids something to learn from. Best of luck the rest of the year. Best regards, Peter Pak, Denver, CO.
Good Day Louis - I just wanted to congratulate you on your fantastic play at Augusta. Hope to see you at the John Deere Classic in a few months. All the best
Not a question, Louis, just an admiring fan who has been tracking you since you came on radar.....Congrats on your fabulous showing at the Masters this weekend. I am proud to be one of your BIGGEST fans!!! Carol/San Jose, CA
Louis, Thank you for putting on a spectacular show (and the historic "2") on Sunday afternoon at the Masters. You and Bubba seem like 2 of the nicest guys on Tour and it was a special treat watching you both compete. I know it must have been very disappointing to lose, but you showed tremendous poise on the 10th green, waiting for all the cheers and emotions to calm down before being able to congratulate Bubba. Nicely done! Looking forward to see you at the remaining majors. Good Luck. James
All Hail King Louis!! Very well done in defending the Africa Open Title. It was nice to watch the three-way tussle between you and Tjaart and Retief. Very well done in winning and congratulations to the Tjaart and Retief for also playing well. All the best for the rest of the season!
Hi Louis, I am Lars, 7 years old, and want to thank you and your caddy for the ball I received friday 9 sept on the KLM open in Netherlands. I received it at the green of the 1st hole, were we were watching the game. This is a great honor for me. Too bad you missed the cut, but you at least inspired me for the game of golf! Lars Schoorel
No problem Lars. Keep working hard at your game and enjoy it Louis
Louis, I have always admired your swing. Last week in the KLM Open, they showed you hitting balls on the range during a rain delay. I noticed you had two aligment sticks. The first was stuck in the ground and angled back. The second was on the ground. I'm thinking you used this drill to perhaps work on swing plane. If you could please explain the purpose of the drill and how to properly do the drill I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks... keep up the great play Devin Bland
Hi Devin The stick on the ground is the line where I want to go and the stick on the angle is to keep my club on the swing path. I'm struggling sometimes because I pick the club up outside the line. Take care
Good Luck at the Players Championship this weekend. Hope you have a great tournament and are bang there on Sunday evening. Keep the South African flag flying high. Sean Duffy
Whoever said "Nice guys never win" didn't know what he was talking about! Fantastic win for Charl at The Masters!! You guys certainly made me very happy by winning two of the greatest golf competitions in the world! The future of South African golf looks very good with guys like you and Charl and all the other young, new generation of golfers emerging from SA. Sounds like you guys had a fantastic time in Georgia. Keep up the good work and see you at Royal St George's!! Best of luck and congrats again to Charl !!
Hi Inus, things are certainly good for South African golf at the moment! Long may it continue and thanks so much for your support. Cheers, Louis.
Well done on the win today in South Africa. What Oakley sunglasses were you wearing?
Hi Frazer, thanks for the mail - felt great to win at home! The Oakleys I was wearing are called M-Frames. Cheers, Louis.
Well Done Louis!!!!! Just had the feeling you back on track again!!!!
Great Stuff Louis. Brilliant to see you lifting another trophy, and in South Africa too. The perfect start to what i hope shall be another successful year for you. Happy New Year to you and your family. Sean Duffy.
Well done Louis (and Zak)!! What a time to sink a putt, after trying all day long! All the best for 2011 as well. Looking forward to seeing you at Royal St George's for The Open! Inus Oosthuizen
Hi Louis. A terrific final round in Durban, great to see you back at the top of your game. I can't recall ever seeing so many good putts go unrewarded, that could have been a sub 60 round. Despite going down by five to Ernie, do you feel that that was one that got away. Dick Adcock Mossel Bay
Hi there, Happy New Year and sorry it's taken a while to reply, busy with the family! I don't really see Durban as the one that got away - five shots is a lot and I think if I made a few more putts Ernie would have just pulled away further. Regards, Louis.
Louis, Congratulations on quite a successful year. I believe that I heard that you are going to be a PGA member in 2011. If so, how often will you be playing here in an effort to balance your European Tour schedule? Thank you and best wishes for the new year. Tom
Hi Thomas, thanks for the message and, yes, you heard correct. I plan to play 16 tournaments on each tour during 2011 so it's roughly about half and half. All the best for Christmas and New Years. Louis.
Hi Louis Very disappointed you will not be attending the dunhill championship this year Followed you on the final round of the open and it was fantastic Do you have any plans to play in Scotland shortly
Hi Tommy, I'm also disappointed not be playin at the Dunhill - I was really looking forward to returning to St Andrews. At this moment in time I don't know when I shall be playing in Scotland again. Definitely some time next year though. Cheers, Louis.
What is the key factor in your sving to generate speed? Any triggers? Would love to hit the ball like you do! Hans Ivarsson
Hi Hans, ball striking is a key factor. Try hitting a lot of balls with your feet together to get your ball striking better - this should really help. Good luck, Louis.
Hello, What is the exact length of the driver you play with? Do you play with standard length irons? Thanks
Hi Mike, my driver is 44.5 inches long and my irons are standard length. Cheers, Louis.
Great play again at the Bridgestone, especailly that final round. Pity they didnt play five rounds, the way you were improving i think you would be near the top!! Go to the USPGA with that momentum and Stay Cool Champ. Good Luck! Sean in Ireland.
Mr. Oosthuizen, Many golf teaching pros mention the importance of a constructive organised practice routine. I would like to ask do you have your own practice routine or do you work on what you feel could be improved on after each competition? Many thanks, Ray Hallett
Hi Ray, It all depends on what I'm working on, but I usually work on the same things so you won't really see my routine change that much. It is good to have one, it keeps you focused on what you worked on at the range. All the best, Louis.
As a South African of 56 and a golfer all my life I was thrilled, like all I am sure, to watch you win at St Andrews! Brilliant! I am also a quizmaster here in Knysna so your name is now appearing in my quizzes, but there is dispute amongst some as to you birthplace. Sorry for something as mundane as this, but could you please confirm in which town you were born? Keep it up and good luck!!!
Hi Steven, this is an easy question!! I was born in Mossel Bay but grew up in Albertinia. Cheers, Louis.
All the best of luck this week in Ohio. Hope you continue with the very steady play after a well earned rest at home. Stay Cool Champ!! Sean in Ireland.
Hi Louis, Congratulations on your win at the Open, I was rooting for you the whole way! Just a quick question though, who is your coach and has he got a website? Would love to learn how to play the Oosthuizen way! Thanks and good luck for the rest of the year.
Hi there Greg, thanks so much for the message. My coach is Pete Cowen and yes he does have a website which is www.petecowen.com and you should find loads of interesting stuff on there. Cheers, Louis.
Hi Louis! Enjoy your break and THAT TRACTOR! (The Cup will look nice on the bonnet, don't you think?) Just don't crash the thing or break anything as we're looking forward to seeing you all fired up at Firestone!! Inus.
Congratulations Louis ! Well deserved win! It was an amazing 4 days of golf. You were flawless & very consistent since day one. Nice to see new breed of golfers win majors. All the best to you & your family. BTW, those Oakley sunglasses your wearing, are they made especially for you ? can we buy that on line ? just wondering...........looks good on you though... Mary --from Berkeley, California
Hi Mary, thanks so much for the message. I don't think those sunnies are made specially for me - I asked them if they had those colours and they did - so I guess you can order them like that! Cheers, Louis.
Baie geluk ou maat! Louis, you certainly changed the way I spend my Saturdays and Sundays. I have never watched so many golf on tv. We are currently residents in the UAE, hope to see you back next year in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Good luck for the rest of this year and enjoy you break in SA!
HAHAH Wel done !!!!!!
Congrads on your recent successes. After the negative attention that has been drawn to pro golf in the last 8 months it is guys like you, (and might I add Brian Davis), that shows that this great sport is supported by talented but especially quality men. With great success comes greater responsibility, stay humble!
Congratulations on winning The Open - some great golf and amazing putting. The team I work with at STRI were helping on the course throughout the championship on preparing the greens. We were wondering how you felt the greens performed over the four days and how consistent they were? Thanks - Carolyn
Hi Carolyn, many thanks for the message and, as you can guess, I thought the greens at St Andrews were fantastic. I think I only had two three putts in four rounds so that in itself is a testament to the quality of them. You guys did a great job. Cheers, Louis.
Hi louis My Name is Lerato and i must admit i never head of u before but the minute i head about u in the news of u fantastic win i just couldnt help it but find out more about you. congradulations once again and enjoy the sportlight all the best to u and your beatufil family how to chat to u soon and take care this realy proves to the world that we a a great nation and puts us on the map. Well done Louis, It was fantastic to see win the Open Championship. It made my family and I feel proud to be South African, as you were so humble and natural. You are a great inspiration and I look forward to watching you go from strength to strength. Cheers and all the best Dean
Well done Louis. You are a great Champion. The way you played for all four days was truly amazing! I can really celebrate your fantastic achievement because i had a small bet on you at 200-1 now i am 1000 euro better off! Thanks Sean
Hi Sean, thanks so much for the message. Spend your winnings wisely!! Cheers, Louis.
Not a question, no need to reply. Just Good Luck again in Scandinavian Masters this weekend! Hope the Hot streak continues and you stay in the Zone! Sean Duffy in Monaghan, Ireland. Go Louis!
Congratulations superb performance! Can I ask one question. TV coverage picked up on the red spot on your glove, how does this help you in your pre shot routine? All the Best Steve
Hi Steve, I place the red dot on my glove glove to help me remain focused. This was my trigger point to get back in focus. When there is chaos all around you my mind can wander off and I struggle to get back to the present so looking at the red dot was my trigger to get up there and hit the shot. The technique was sorted for my by Karl Morris who is a sports psychologist - it worked a treat! Cheers Louis.
Stick it out Louis, I've hammered into you at odds of 11/2 yesterday afternoon so need you to pay for the summer holidays.
Hey Ciaran, looks like the summer holidays are a done deal! Cheers, Louis.
Hi Louis we're following you with great interest at The Open - good luck! You seem to have a good relationship with your caddie - can you tell us a bit more about him? Cheers.
Hi Elsa, it all worked out real well! So many people have asked about my caddy! His name is Zack Rasego and he's caddied for me for seven years now! He's 48 and lives near Sun City and first caddied for me at Atlantic Beach in the Open qualifier back in 04 and we got through and went to Troon! So it all goes on from there! He's caddied for Gary Player and Chip Beck in the Million Dollar and is a good guy! All the best, Louis.
Who's was man on the Bag during the Open? Must be from Natal because he handed you a Banana instead of Biltong! Seriously though, you had so many people to thank, you did not mention him, but he seems to have clubbed you 100% and dealt with the whole occasion very well. From Fancourt, no doubt?
Hi Inus, Zack's actually from Sun City! He did a great job but Biltong's a bit tricky to find in Scotland so we had to make do with bananas! I had so many people to thank and I just plain forgot - but he forgave me! All the best, Louis.
Congrats all over the place! I really liked how your first words in your acceptance speech was to wish Nelson Mandela a happy birthday. I also noticed how your Caddy of 7 years remained so composed, collected and calm throughout the whole thing. You are both a class act! What a great team you make. Does this win change your tour schedule now?
Hi Erik, thanks so much for the message - it was certainly a fantastic day for me and also for Zack as well! Never to be forgotten. My schedule is pretty much the same - I play in Scandinavia this week and then a bit of time off and I'll now be playing in the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron - I guess that's about the only change. Cheers, Louis.
The best wishes to my friend Pro from Pro-Am at Omega Masters 2006 Louis! Your win was a very impressive and nice one! I was the only one realy fan of you in the Czech Republic, but now you got thousands fans in my country!
Hi Louis I´m Joaquin, from Argentina. Congratulations on your victory, you played amazingly the four days. I have to tell you I love your golf swing, and for now on I will just try to imitate it.

Hey Louis, Congratulations - I am extremely happy for you, you deserve all the success you get. I have been watching your performance on a weekly basis over the last 8 years, I guess you could say I am a true fan ;) ! In your challenge tour days I actually caddied for you at one of the Irish tournaments, and from that I knew you were destined for big things. Still striving for the 57, BJ
Thanks for the info on Zack - so many people are interested in him - you'll have to tell him that soon he'll have to have his own fan club! Well done you're a brilliant team, did our country proud. Boer vooruit!

Hi Louis, There have been a few instances of late that have made me a proud South African but none more than your gracious, unassuming acceptance speech. CONGRATS! KEEP going!
Hi Louis, sorry, I seem to be hammering you with questions. I saw that in your bag you have a 60 degree LW. I take it that's the Ping Tour -W. I have the same one. Mine has 08 degrees of bounce, but I see yours is TS (thin sole). What difference does that actually make? Less Bounce?
Hi Rick, I do have the TS LW. They actually took off some of the bounce at the back which makes it easier to open the face on those tight lies. I use to use the 8 degree bounce wedge which ping use to grind for me but never got the same than the TS LW. To me the TS is a great all rounder LW. All the best, Louis.
Congrats on a great win Louis. You deserved it. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what happened with your approach shots on both Par 5's? You were still able to save par, but I'm sure you wanted to get there in 2, looking at how you played the holes the previous three days.Anyway, well done! Good luck at the Masters... We're behind you all the way!
Hi Rick, I was very happy with my par 5's for the week. I played them in 8 under for the 8 par 5's. The only thing on Sunday was that I was very uncomfortable standing over a long iron. Short irons were fine as well as the driver and other woods. I had this problem in Morocco as well. I know that it is just a setup problem but will fix it before the Masters. Take care, Louis.
Wonderful Louis, two great performances culminating in that elusive first European Tour win. No longer the best player never to win on the European Tour! Andalucia is a good venue for you, I recall your finishing fourth there a couple of seasons back. With the albatross off your back, and guaranteed playing privileges, I'm sure that you'll be planning the next step up to the highest level. What is your preference for the next milestone; - A top ten positioning in the World Rankings. - A first major. - To top the European Order of Merit (Race to Dubai) log. Maybe all three? Dick Adcock Mossel Bay
Hi Dick, I'm very focused on the European Tour for now so finishing high up on the rankings is a big goal. I'm taking everything step by step but definitely got my goals for in the future to win a major and get into the top ten in the world. For now though, I'm focused on the European Tour Race to Dubai. Cheers, Louis.
Not a Question...But a message of congratulations on your Win!!!!!! I knew your win would come soon and I am so chuffed it came so quick. Now keep up the streak.!!! WELL DONE!!!
Thanks Jan, was a great feeling and am now looking forward to going to Augusta! Cheers, Louis.
Congratulations on the win great performance! Do you now play in the Masters? If so how would you feel if you were drawn with Tiger??
Hi Steve, thanks for the message - was so great to win in Andalucia. Yes, I do go to the Masters now and am really looking forward to it, it's such an amazing event. I have actually played with Tiger before which was a great experience so if it happened again that would great. Cheers, Louis.
Louis, I am currently an 8 Handicap, and my dream is to play golf as a professional. What advice can you give me? Secondly, I'm playing Royal JHB East Course in 1 week, I'm a fairly long hitter (Driver 275m, 7 iron 165+) How should I take on the 'beast'?
Hi Rick, Short game.....this is the best way to improve from an 8 handicap. A lot of amateurs only practice their long game and forget that the game is being won on the greens and around the greens. You should spend more time chipping and putting when you practice. The east course is a good golf course and can bite you if you try to attack it to much. My advice to you is, Try and hit as many fairways and greens as you can. That is one of the courses you want to play from the fairway. If you say you are a long hitter it gives you an advantage. You don't have to hit driver everywhere. Think your way around that course, if you in trouble, take your bogey and walk. Try and keep the doubles off the card. Good luck to you, Louis.
What is a typical routine for you on the practice ground before each round & is there any drills you are trying at the moment? Just like to say you have the best swing on tour, great to watch.
Hi Steve, I don't like to do a lot of work on the range before my round. My warm-up session is very basic. I normally start off just chipping a few on the range then a mid iron like an 8 and then 5 or 4 iron. After that normally a 3 wood and then Driver. At the moment I don't have anything big I'm working on, I just work on hitting a lot more soft shots to shorten my backswing. And then a drill I do a lot is hitting mid-irons with my feet next to each other. This helps my balance, ball striking and connection between arms and legs in my swing. Hope this helps. All the best, Louis.
I've seen you a few times hitting the ball very far on MBGC. How exactly do you generate that clubhead speed?
Hi Martino, That is a good question....A lot of people ask me that and to be honest with you, I can't really tell you how. Since I've been little my timing was pretty good and for the last 6 years I've been doing drills to help my timing in the golf swing. Drills like standing with your feet together hitting shots. This helps me to get my body and legs working together in a unit and improves my ball striking. The only thing I can tell you is that I'm a big believer of hitting a driver with everything I've got. This helps me to clear properly and swing it down the line. I hope this helps....and thanks for the question, Cheers, Louis.
