To say that Louis Oosthuizen feels comfortable playing on home soil would be an understatement. With his six-stroke victory at The South African Open, the 36-year-old won his ninth European Tour title; five have come in his native country. “I wish the family was here,” Oosthuizen said, struggling to fight back tears on the 18th green. “I knew today was either going to be very special or heartbreaking. I know there's only a few who have won The Open and the SA Open so I'm very chuffed to have my name on this. This feels very special. This is perfect.” He relied on a G400 LST driver, averaging 347.8 yards off the tee, and was #1 in Strokes Gained Driving. He is one of just six players to have won both SA Open and The Open Championship, which he captured in 2010.
