Five ISM players finished in the top 15 when the European Tour reached the end of The Road To Dubai.
One third represents a pretty fine effort so congratulations go to Charl Schwartzel, Lee Westwood, Simon Dyson, Darren Clarke and Louis Oosthuizen for helping themselves to a tasty slice of the bonus pool through their season-long consistency.
Congratulations too to Luke Donald for making history by topping the money lists of both the European and US tours. England has never had such a strong band of golfers and I’m sure there will be plenty more following in their spike marks.
The Dubai World Championship marked the end of the European Tour season and we had two in the top ten – South Africa’s World Cup pair of Charl and Louis showing just how much they have to look forward to in the coming years. I am sure they will enjoy a friendly rivalry throughout their careers in much the same way Lee and Darren have.
For others, the race for glory continues at the European Tour's qualifying school and after the fourth round in Spain it looks like our representation will be swelled next year.
Branden Grace, Matt Nixon, Espen Kofstad and Scott Pinckney all have a good chance of finishing the gruelling six-round slog with a card to play with the big boys next year. I wish them every success and best of luck to those who missed out. There will no doubt be a few ISM players competing at the top of the leaderboards on the Challenge Tour next season as well.
