Another hot week beckons on the Malaysian peninsula and we are not talking just about the weather. Louis Oosthuizen has been slowly turning up the heat since his revival at the Dunhill Links Championship in October.

Last week in weather-beaten Singapore he finished one shot away from a place in the play-off. Had the tournament run to 72 holes instead of 54, Oosthuizen believes he would have secured his second victory of the season. The weather is again a threat to proceedings at the Iskandar Johor Open but Oosthuizen, who goes out with Anthony Kim and Jaidee Thongchai, could not be in better shape.

“Last week in Singapore was good. I’ve been playing pretty well for a while now, and whilst it was obviously disappointing not to get the win, I was still very happy with how I hit the ball last week, especially on the second and third days.

“I haven’t played this course before, but I would imagine it’ll be a fairly similar test to last week. I played nine holes this morning and the greens were very good. You wouldn’t have guessed they’d had so much rain here lately. So I’m really looking forward to the week.”

Oosthuizen is one of ten ISM players in the Malaysian field, including last week’s hot ticket Joost Luiten, who would have made the play-off himself were it not for two bogeys in the closing three holes.
