If I was a betting man, the odds are that I’d be looking closely at having a serious punt on South Africa to win the World Cup.
Major champions and close friends, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen will fly the Rainbow Nation’s colours in China later this month and both are hitting top form again at just the right time.
Both are really looking forward to teaming up at Mission Hills and they should prove to be a formidable partnership in what should be one of the most competitive World Cups of the modern era.
Although Charl couldn’t quite match the scintillating style of Martin Kaymer who claimed victory in the HSBC WGC event in Shanghai with nine birdies in 12 holes, he did end his round Augusta-style plus one – hitting five red numbers in a row to finish fourth behind the German.
And Louis wasn’t far behind, claiming another top ten finish to further illustrate that he is almost back to his best. The pair will take some beating when the representatives of the world’s top golfing nations return to China.
There were plenty of birdies over the weekend for many of ISM’s representatives in Shanghai. It was particularly pleasing to see Jeev Milkha Singh finish in style after all the injury problems he has endured over the last couple of years while Darren Clarke was back to Open form in the last two rounds, eight under for the final 36 holes a good omen pointing towards a strong finish to the season.
I am also delighted to pay tribute to two of our clients I am sure you will hear much of in the coming years. Congratulations go to Danny Denison and Matt Baldwin who emerged from the Challenge Tours Grand Final with playing cards to join the big boys next season.
