Ross On The Up

European golf is blessed to have so much talent and I expect things to only get better

Ross McGowan’s luck thankfully seems to be changing at last after a season hindered by injuries and uncertainty.

Events this year might have prompted others to consider ringing the Samaritans, but Ross rarely has a smile off his face and I’m sure he will be beaming as bright as ever if he can stay off the treatment table.

Ross’s first top ten of the season in the Castello Masters – tied eighth alongside Frenchman Romain Wattel - will have given him all the confidence he needs to end the season on a high.

Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen may have attracted more headlines during the last year, but you can expect another impressive South African to be pushing for back page space very soon.

George Coetzee is enjoying an incredible run and his sixth place finish in Spain moved him to 20th in the Race to Dubai standings.

Congratulations to Sergio Garcia on winning the event and what a nice touch to dedicate his triumph to Seve Ballesteros.   Very well done also to Luke Donald on winning the US Tour money list against the odds with a great win in Disney.

European golf is blessed to have so much talent and I expect things to only get better.
