Oh! Danny Boy

He will be a very welcome addition to our main tour representation next year and his chance alongside the big boys is thoroughly deserved

Every so often a story springs up that is as heart warming as it is heroic so take a bow Danny Denison.

Danny’s career was cruelly interrupted some four years ago when a car accident left him with two broken legs and worries over his future.

But throughout a long recovery and a lot of pain, Danny remained convinced that he would get to where he wanted in golf.

Last weekend Danny took a giant step forward towards that goal and I could not be more pleased.  He won his maiden professional title in Denmark at the ECCO Championship presented by Thomas Bjorn and Mercedes Benz and opened up a whole, bright new future long separated from the dark days of depression after the accident.

It says a great deal about Danny and his ability under pressure that he held off the threat of France’s Charles-Edouard Russo to win by one shot and move to second in the Challenge Tour rankings.   He will be a very welcome addition to our main tour representation next year and his chance alongside the big boys is thoroughly deserved.

It was a good weekend for ISM generally in Denmark because close behind Danny came Matt Baldwin and Steven Tiley proving that our production line is still turning round very nicely.

Congratulations too to Ernie Els who added the Wyndham Championship to his itinerary last week to give himself a chance of making the US Tour’s play-offs and did exactly that in Greensboro.

Ernie had a very consistent week to move inside the top 125 and so qualify for this week’s Barclay’s just outside New York.
