Rory In Front Of The Eight Ball

It’s going to be a fantastic final day and hopefully we will have three out of the four grand slam titles in our stable at the end of it

You don’t have to take my word for it, just listen to Y.E. Yang: ‘It’s a race for second place right now’.

The PGA champion from Korea of two years ago is the closest to Rory going into the last round of the US Open today... and he has already conceded the title to the 22-year-old Ulsterman.

Not just Yang, but many others because Rory is eight shots clear going into the final round after another superlative day at Congressional.

Rory may not have played as well as he did for the first two rounds, but he still extended his lead and made history again.

Record after record have fallen to the 22-year-old and it’s probable that many more today will have his name on them by the time the season’s second major championship is decided Sunday afternoon.

It has been an unbelievable week in Virginia just a few miles away from America’s capital city. And we could well have a 1-2 tomorrow because Lee Westwood will tee off today still believing that he too has a chance of claiming his first major title.

Lee was 84th after his first round, but a third=round 65 means that he goes into today’s last lap in third place, close enough for him to know that strange things do happen in this most unpredictable of sports.

It’s going to be a fantastic final day and hopefully we will have three out of the four grand slam titles in our stable at the end of it.
