A Happy Camper

Posted: 18th January 2011

Hi there folks, hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all the very best for 2011.

Christmas time for us was great, it all got going on the 22nd when we celebrated Jana’s first birthday. We held a party for her and got a bouncy castle, slides and that kind of thing for her and her friends to play on – I think altogether there was about fifty people there and we had a lot of fun – Jana most certainly enjoyed herself!

We then spent Christmas on our farm with my side of the family and then went to Nel-Mare’s parents’ farm for the New Year. Their place is on the Orange River so we had a great time messing about in the boats, relaxing and having a fun time.

Then it was time for golf again and we travelled down to East London for the Africa Open. I hadn’t played over the festive break so my first two rounds were a bit rough but I got myself together on the weekend. I have to admit the putting during last round was a bit shaky and I didn’t really think I had a chance but I came back nicely and won the first play-off hole, so that was the best start to the year possible.

So after a very satisfying time in East London myself, family and some friends went camping for a few days in a place called Jongensfontein close to Stillbay. There were about ten of us altogether and we had a great time there – plenty of chilling out, some quite competitive beach cricket and every night the braai was in full swing as was the “Potjiekos”. For those of you who are wondering what this is............ it’s a South African dish which is cooked in a big pot on the fire for about three hours and contains meat, herbs and vegetables and it tastes great! Although it was only three days it was a really good break before flying to the Middle East.

So we’re now in Abu Dhabi and I’m looking forward to the week – I love the course here and have come close in this tournament a couple of times before.

I thought you might like to see that I’ve been getting into the spirit of things out here! Myself and a few of the guys did a photoshoot this morning so I thought I’d share this one with you – just a shame they couldn’t find one with Ping on the front!!

Bye for now, Louis.
